Epic Update of the Week 🚑:  Quick= hits for you re: bagged urine, Smartsets (new & old), (Procedure) Notes (do’s and ways to correct),  Obs… oh my!   Thank you to everyone who pings the ASAP team with issues/concerns/“wouldn’t it be great if the system could…”, truly so helpful.

  1. Urine Bags – since we do NOT want reflex to culture for bagged urines (and the volume of febrile <24 month 39C toddler girlies are coming for us…), quick list option created! Thx to Ashley Marchese for the idea

Smartsets

  1. New​ BRUE & Syncope Discharge Smartsets – Thank you to our pathway champions Atima & Andy Fine for help with the build! Links to pathways included.

 2. Sedation Smartset: it is required that patients/caregivers are provide discharge instructions after procedural sedation – please use the Smartset that includes and is suggested on any patient for which you used the sedation orderset! We dipped from 90% usage in June to ~50% usage in July…

Procedure Notes – while working on an IT solution so you don’t have to think about this with other teams in the hospital (and for billing/$ reasons) please:

    1. APP/Fellows: ** please do not change your name to the performing provider and leave the attending’s name that is defaulted into that field** … Although you were the primary proceduralist, the attending’s name needs to be in that field
    1. TYFs/Attendings : If the name was changed and you notice, you can edit by

1-Go back into MyNote

2-Click Edit in Notewriter

3- Click Providers (seen above)

4 – Make sure you are both the Performing and Authorizing Provider

5 -add our smart phrase for procedure attestation with .EDATTPROCATTEST at the bottom and sign

How to Delete Notes (ex: Resident creates POCUS note in error that images were not saved/no attending credentialed can sign off on etc; Patient LWBS and you started a note…)

    1. They cannot be deleted from chart review, however the owner of the note can delete it from MyNotes or the Notes Activity where you normally go to write your note.

When admitting patient to Medical Observation… there is a smart phrase for that! .EDATTOBSADMIT or EDOBSADMIT or EDADMITOBS or EDATTADMITOBS… however you want to remember it, it’s the same! New drop down quick options for you for Goals of Observation and Interventions
