EPIC Messaging – Sedation instructions/smartset and NGs in bronchiolitis

Epic/ASAP 🚑 Updates for the Week

Just two quick hits for you –

1. Required Sedation discharge instructions – For patients undergoing sedation in the ED, it is required that they receive discharge instructions on post-sedation management at home. If you use the sedation order set for medications, write a moderate sedation procedure note, or have a patient with a fall or extremity pain… this will be suggested to you! Please utilize.

2. As mentioned in previous PEMAs, the inpatient team is working on a QI initiative to promote NGT enteral hydration over IV hydration where clinically appropriate for dehydrated patients with bronchiolitis. Orderset now reflects this option w/ Pedialyte.
