“Baby names”, better urine testing, ICU boarders, medication assistance, and NGT procdocs

Epic ASAP Tips of the Week: BabyRx, new ED Urine Panel, ED ICU Boarder orderset, FreeCare = Rx Med Assistance, Abridge pinned Activity Tab for customization/feedback, GTube/NGT Smartsets…

  1. Babygirl/Babyboy needing prescriptions? Have a newborn whose name has not been updated and needs a prescription? Unfortunately, if not yet merged, the prescription will show ‘baby___’ as legal name, even if enter an Alias/Preferred Name until the encounter is complete. Two options:

    1. Once merged after discharge, can re-write prescription under legal name (may delay processing/acquisition of medicine required for little one)
    2. Add a “Note to Pharmacy” in prescription ordering screen:

  2. Urine Testing Panel – To help guide the correct urine order selection, an ED Urine Tests panel has been created

  7. ED ICU Boarder Orderset – hoping not needed, but provides orders for drains/tubes, ventilation, vasoactive infusions, sedative infusions… all fun critical care stuff.

Medication Assistance Program – the previously known ‘Free Care’ form across the hospital is transitioning to a SmartForm in Epic for patients needing longer length prescriptions and do not have the means to acquire them. Within our Dispo form below prescriptions you will see this option of Rx Medication Assistance Request. These are not the ED Take Home Meds for urgent needs overnight (albuterol, epipen, etc… those can be found in the ED Take Home Medication Smartsets)

  11. Abridge Activity Tab – tomorrow you will see the option of an Abridge Activity Tab – allows users to access the Abridge settings without having an active recording on a patient to adjust your customizations, review transcript, provide Abridge feedback.

  13. Discharge Smartsets – GTube & NGT dislodgment – if you filed a ProcDoc for GT replacement or RN documented NGT replacement during our ED encounter, these will be suggested!
